Geely announces solid-state battery technology for 1,000 km range

Geely has announced developments in next-generation solid-state battery technology aimed at significantly increasing electric vehicle range and longevity. The company reports achieving an energy density of 500 Wh/kg, which is more than double the capacity of current conventional lithium-ion batteries. This technology is projected to provide a driving range of up to 1,000 km on a single charge and a total lifespan of at least 1,000,000 km.

While the technology is currently in the experimental stage and not yet ready for mass production due to high anticipated costs, Geely plans to begin testing by 2027. These tests will involve various subsidiaries, including Volvo, Lynk & Co, Polestar, Lotus, and Smart.

In a similar development, Samsung has also introduced a new electric vehicle battery designed to offer 1,000 km of autonomy with a rapid charging time of just 9 minutes.
