Geely Group advances negotiations to acquire Alpine racing programs

The Geely Group is advancing negotiations to acquire the endurance racing program of the French manufacturer Alpine in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). Renault has confirmed its departure from the WEC at the end of this season, and the deadline to register a project for the 2027 season is November 26. Under a potential agreement, Renault would retain the intellectual property of the prototype, while Geely could take over the structure alongside Signatech, which provides technical expertise and personnel.

Beyond the WEC, the Chinese conglomerate is also considering a purchase of the Alpine Formula 1 team based in Enstone. Alpine has previously rejected two buyout offers: one for 1.5 billion euros and another for 2.1 billion euros. Executive advisor Flavio Briatore indicated that any potential sale would require a valuation closer to 3 billion euros, though he stated that there is currently no decision to sell the team.

If a sale occurs, the new owners would be required to honor existing driver contracts, including those for Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto.
