Geert Wilders calls for ‘mass deportations’ on social media

Geert Wilders, leader of the PVV, has called for ‘mass deportations’ in a post on the social media platform X. While he did not explicitly name a specific group, he directed his comments toward ‘criminal scum’ in response to a report regarding a sexual assault in Amsterdam.

Wilders stated that ‘Dutch people are hunted prey in their own country.’ This marks what is noted as the first time he has explicitly called for mass deportations. Academic Anne de Jong from the University of Amsterdam described the remarks as a ‘classic example’ of populist rhetoric that links criminality to ethnic origin, potentially damaging the rule of law by framing individual crimes as a conflict between Dutch citizens and foreigners.
