German meat production falls as agricultural sector faces insolvency and drought

In Austria, severe drought conditions have led to fodder shortages, forcing farmers to conduct emergency slaughterings and causing a surge in cattle reaching slaughterhouses, which has strained facility capacities. Meanwhile, in Switzerland, the Swiss Farmers' Union (SBV) is calling for political and retail support due to heat-related declines in milk production and meat supply.
