Gegê Chaia appointed to Flamengo basketball staff

Former Vasco da Gama basketball technical director Gegê Chaia, who led the club from 2023 to 2026, was announced on Friday (31) as the newest member of rival Flamengo's basketball organization. Chaia said, "I have the honor and responsibility to return to the club where I lived some of the most important moments of my trajectory…" and expressed his intent to help build a more victorious future for Flamengo.

The move marks a high‑profile staff change within Brazil's top basketball league, the NBB, as Chaia transitions from the Gigante das Quadras to the Urubu, bringing three seasons of front‑office experience to his new role.
