Turkish municipalities implement transport hikes and urban renewal

Municipalities across various Turkish provinces are implementing significant infrastructure and policy changes. In Bursa, the Metropolitan Municipality has approved a 25 percent increase in public transport fares, affecting bus, rail, and minibus services, as well as municipal parking lots. Officials cited rising fuel costs and the need for sustainable subsidies as primary drivers for the adjustment. Additionally, Bursa is focusing on urban transformation in İnegöl, specifically the Turgutalp Neighborhood project, to increase earthquake resilience.

In Ordu, the Turnasuyu Kordon Park project is nearing completion of its second stage, which includes a pedestrian bridge to connect two sides of the park, creating a new social hub. Meanwhile, in Konya, the Meram Municipality has launched the final stage of the Suriçi Çarşısı urban transformation project, aimed at revitalizing the historical center and boosting tourism through new commercial and office spaces.

In Denizli, the Metropolitan Municipality is addressing transportation challenges, including improving access to the new Emergency Hospital and optimizing bus service intervals. In Hatay, local authorities are implementing seasonal traffic regulations in Arsuz to manage tourism-related congestion.
