Gela Calcio names Comandatore and Cammarata as new staff after Lo Bianco resigns
Aurelio Lo Bianco, the sporting director of Gela Calcio, submitted his resignation, citing exclusion from the decision‑making process for the club’s new head coach. In his farewell letter he wrote that the “main premise of my role has disappeared” after being left out of the coach selection.
Club president Maurizio Melfa responded by appointing former Niscemi coach Fabio Comandatore to the head‑coach position and promoting Marco Cammarata to sporting director. Melfa emphasized the desire to keep the staff entirely local, stating that “the staff is all Gelese” and that the changes aim to give continuity after the split with Lo Bianco. The mayor and local authorities inspected the stadium as renovation work continues, and the club expects to avoid further penalties following a recent arbitration ruling.
