Gela football club aims to raise €400,000 and name new sporting director

Italian Serie D side Gela, fresh from a recent change of ownership, is launching a €400,000 fundraising drive that combines sponsorship offers and a subscription campaign. Patron Maurizio Melfa said the club wants "football to become a laboratory where values can be propagated" and highlighted the need for strong financial backing ahead of the next season.

The board will meet next week to appoint a new sporting director. Candidates being discussed are former club insider Martello and current technical area chief Lo Bianco, both of whom have been involved with the team over the past three years. The fundraising target is seen as essential to secure the club’s future in Serie D and reinforce its ties with local businesses and supporters.
