Gela launches crowdsourcing campaign for industrial memory museum

A crowdsourcing campaign has officially launched to establish the Museum of Memory of 20th-century Gela. The initiative, titled “On the tracks of black gold. Memories, stories and images for an industrial memory of Gela,” aims to build a collective archive of the region's industrial heritage.

The project focuses on gathering historical sources related to life and work within the petrochemical sector. Citizens are encouraged to contribute items such as photographs, work tools, documents, personal stories, and oral testimonies.

The launch event took place at the Euclide Municipal Library and featured presentations by Professor Deborah Paci from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and Dr. Jacopo Bassi from the “Diacronie” cultural association. Local officials and representatives from the Association of Eni Pioneers and Veterans (APVE) also participated to support the preservation of the city's industrial roots.
