Gela port authorities resume dialogue over dredging project

Institutional dialogue is resuming between the Mayor of Gela and Annalisa Tardino, the extraordinary commissioner of the Western Sicily Port System Authority. An upcoming meeting aims to evaluate the progress of the long-standing Porto Rifugio project.

Recent administrative developments include a favorable opinion from the Technical Administrative Committee of the Interregional Superintendency for Public Works for Sicily and Calabria regarding a dredging project for the port's waters. This intervention is valued at approximately 6.5 million euros. Due to the port's location within the Gela SIN (National Environmental Site), the project requires specific authorizations and is now moving toward the Ministry of the Environment for further processing.
