Gelato Borelli and Bacio di Latte lead Brazil's premium ice cream expansion

The premium ice cream market in Brazil is undergoing a significant shift following the announcement by General Mills that Häagen-Dazs will no longer be distributed in the country. This exit comes amid a period of strong expansion for the high-end segment, which is driven by consumer preference for premiumization and more expensive products.

Brands such as Bacio di Latte and Gelato Borelli have emerged as major players in this evolving landscape. Bacio di Latte has seen an annual growth of approximately 30% since 2023, with projected revenues reaching R$ 1.5 billion by 2026. Gelato Borelli, which reported a revenue of R$ 500 million in 2025, continues to expand its footprint, recently opening a new location at Itajaí Shopping.

The Brazilian ice cream sector comprises over 11,000 companies with an annual turnover exceeding R$ 14 billion. Other notable competitors in the premium and super-premium categories include Magnum, Ben & Jerry’s, and La Basque.
