Series of vehicle accidents and barn fires sweep Dutch provinces on July 16‑17

During the evenings of 16 and 17 July, emergency services in the Netherlands responded to a spate of incidents across several provinces. In Gelderland, three separate vehicle rollovers were reported: a car flipped on the Prins Mauritssingel in Lent, another overturned under the viaduct on Koppestraat in Arnhem, and a third on the Keesomstraat in Ede. At the same time, intense barn fires broke out in Harderwijk, Lienden and around the village of Brakel, prompting multiple fire crews and the use of a water cannon to contain the flames.

In Overijssel, a horse stranded in a ditch near Reeve was rescued by fire‑fighters, while a fat‑bike rider suffered injuries after colliding with a car in Hengelo. Police also seized two suspects after a drug‑deal in Kampen. Further down in Groningen, a serious road collision on the Middelsedyk near Stiens left several occupants injured and required a trauma helicopter. No fatalities were reported, and investigations into causes are ongoing.
