Geleximco faces 1,500 billion VND paper loss on Viettronics acquisition

Geleximco, led by businessman Vu Van Tien, is facing a temporary unrealized loss of over 1,500 billion VND following its acquisition of Viettronics (VEC). In October 2025, Geleximco spent approximately 2,562 billion VND to acquire nearly 88% of Viettronics from the State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) through an auction.

While VEC shares initially surged by over 416% following the takeover, reaching a peak of 64,000 VND per share in December 2025, the price has since declined significantly. As of October 13, 2026, the market price dropped to 27,300 VND, representing a nearly 59% decrease from its peak. Based on current market values, Geleximco's investment is valued at approximately 1,052 billion VND, resulting in a paper loss of roughly 1,510 billion VND compared to the original purchase price.
