Gelibolu Marathon to take place on historic Gallipoli Peninsula

The 11th Gelibolu Marathon is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 18, on the historic Gallipoli Peninsula in Çanakkale. The event, which commemorates the 111th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory, will feature various distances including 42km, 21km, and 10km races, alongside a 1,915-meter “Respect Run.”

Approximately 2,500 to 3,000 participants from 10 different countries are expected to join the event. The races will traverse the historic battlefield, offering runners the opportunity to experience the region's unique historical and natural atmosphere. Officials noted that the marathon is expected to boost the local economy by increasing activity in hotels, restaurants, and local businesses.

In addition to the main races, a children's event is planned for October 17 at Hamidiye Bastion, with an expected 400 to 500 young participants. The organization is supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Çanakkale Governorship, and the Çanakkale Wars Gallipoli Historical Area Presidency.
