Gelnhausen court begins trial for alleged outdoor pool sexual harassment
A trial has commenced at the Gelnhausen District Court in Hesse regarding allegations of sexual harassment at an outdoor swimming pool. Two Syrian men, aged 18 and 28 at the time of indictment, are facing charges related to incidents that occurred in June 2025.
The younger defendant faces charges of sexual harassment in two instances and one count of coercion. Prosecutors allege he touched a 13-year-old girl on the buttocks, touched a 14-year-old girl on the chest and buttocks, and forcibly held a 15-year-old girl by the leg in the water while pulling her bikini top.
The older defendant is accused of sexual harassment in one instance involving a 14-year-old girl. Because the younger defendant is legally considered a young adult, the juvenile court is handling the proceedings. The trial was originally scheduled for May but was postponed due to a judge's illness.
