Gelsenkirchen police arrest suspect following stabbing incident

Police in Gelsenkirchen-Bulmke-Hüllen have launched an investigation into an attempted murder following a violent altercation in an apartment building on Wildenbruchstraße. The incident occurred on a Tuesday evening around 9:25 PM, prompting a large police response.

A 55-year-old man from Gelsenkirchen sustained stab wounds during the disturbance and was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, though his condition has since stabilized. Authorities arrested a 27-year-old suspect at the scene.

Following a request from the Essen Public Prosecutor's Office, the District Court issued an arrest warrant for the suspect on Wednesday, September 2. The motives behind the confrontation remain under investigation.
