Gemlik Atatürk Stadium faces delays ahead of professional league debut
Gemlik Sümer FK, a club set to compete in the professional leagues for the first time, faces potential stadium issues ahead of its debut season. The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) conducted an inspection of the Gemlik Atatürk Stadium and identified several necessary improvements required to meet professional standards.
Specific requirements include the installation of seating in the stands and physical renovations to the press area located behind the protocol tribune. While the Bursa Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports holds management authority over the stadium and has been notified of these deficiencies, a definitive timeline for the completion of these works has not yet been established.
Concerns have arisen regarding whether the necessary tender and official procedures will be completed before the club’s expected first home match in September. If the renovations are not finished in time, Gemlik Sümer FK may be forced to play its initial home matches at a different stadium outside of the Gemlik district.
