Gemma Fleming warned by Scottish regulator for abusive conduct on coach holiday

Gemma Fleming, a care worker employed by Enable Scotland in Lanarkshire, was reprimanded by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) after an incident that occurred on a coach holiday in September 2024.

The SSSC report detailed that Fleming used profanity and verbally abused a colleague, threatened violence, physically grabbed and attempted to strike the colleague, and threw a drink over a colleague and a member of the public, all in the presence of two supported people. She also insulted a waiter and a member of the public during the trip.

The regulator placed a three‑year reprimand on her professional registration, required her to complete additional training in professional conduct, conflict management and de‑escalation, and noted a risk of repeat behaviour, although she has continued working without further incidents.
