Gemmiweg hiking trail offers steep ascent in the Swiss Alps

The Gemmiweg in Leukerbad is recognized as one of the most spectacular and steepest hiking trails in the Alps. The route involves climbing approximately 970 vertical meters over a distance of just 4.6 kilometers through switchbacks carved into the rock.

Upon reaching the pass, hikers can view the Valais glaciers and 4,000-meter peaks, as well as the Daubensee lake. The area is accessible via public transport, with connections available through Basel and Visp to Leuk.
