Gen. G defeats Invictus Gaming in Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage opener

Gen. G secured a victory against Invictus Gaming (iG) in the first round of the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage. Despite an early deficit and iG winning several initial skirmishes, Gen. G took control of the midgame to finish the match in approximately 26 minutes.

Key performances included Canyon on Qiyana, whose early pressure forced an expensive recall for iG's Rookie, and Chovy on Akali, who maintained a significant farm and gold lead. Gen. G secured Dragon Soul around the 22-minute mark, effectively neutralizing iG's ability to contest the game.

Following this match, Invictus Gaming moved on to face Hanwha Life Esports, whom they defeated to improve their record to 2-1. IG player Rookie noted that while their tournament draw was difficult, the team felt comfortable adapting to the playstyles encountered.
