Gen-I advertising and legal expenditures show significant increases
Data released by the portal Preiskovalno.si reveals significant shifts in the advertising and legal expenditures of the energy group Gen-I between 2021 and 2025.
Advertising spending by Gen-I has seen a substantial increase, rising from approximately 705,000 euros in 2021 to over 956,000 euros projected for 2025. The reports highlight a change in recipients following the transition from the Janez Janša government to the Robert Golob administration in mid-2022. While previous recipients included outlets like Pro Plus and RTV Slovenija, recent years have seen increased spending on media companies associated with Martin Odlazek, such as MEDIA24 and Infonet Media. Notably, MEDIA24 is projected to become the top advertising recipient in 2025.
Regarding legal costs, Gen-I's expenditures have also grown, exceeding 1 million euros in 2025. The largest single recipient of legal fees was the Romanian law firm D&B David si Baias, which received approximately 827,000 euros across 2024 and 2025. Additionally, lawyer Stojan Zdolšek, an advocate for Prime Minister Robert Golob, received nearly 230,000 euros in legal fees over a four-year period. Gen-I attributes the rise in advertising costs to market conditions, including the energy crisis and price regulations.
