Gen-I freezes electricity prices in Slovenia until 2027

Gen-I, Slovenia’s largest electricity supplier, has announced it will freeze electricity prices for households and small business customers until the end of 2027. This commitment applies to existing customers and those who sign contracts by December 31. While the base price for electricity will remain stable, the total bill may still fluctuate due to changes in network fees, taxes, and levies determined by the state or operators.

Other major energy providers, including Petrol, ECE, and Energija Plus, noted that while they are not currently planning retail price increases for the autumn or the end of the year, the market remains uncertain. Petrol reported rising prices on European wholesale markets, and suppliers emphasized that future costs depend on volatile factors such as gas and electricity market trends, weather, geopolitical events, and resource availability.

Gen-I stated that the decision to freeze prices is supported by its ability to manage long-term procurement and price risks across 27 energy markets. CEO Maks Helbl noted the goal is to allow customers to plan costs more easily and protect them from potential market pressures.
