Gen Z professionals in India show hesitation toward online networking
Research from LinkedIn indicates that 83% of Gen Z professionals in India hesitate to engage with their professional networks online. Key barriers include a fear of judgment, concerns about bothering others, and worries regarding authenticity.
Nirajita Banerjee, LinkedIn’s Head of Editorial and Creator Management, suggests reframing networking as “building relationships” rather than a transactional activity. To overcome these hurdles, experts recommend starting interactions through small actions like liking or commenting on posts, following industry leaders, and engaging in conversations centered on shared interests.
Career experts emphasize that young professionals should begin building connections before they actively require a job. Rather than waiting for an impressive resume, Gen Z is encouraged to use curiosity and consistency to establish meaningful professional ties through webinars, conferences, and industry engagement.
