Gen Z travelers in Sweden adopt meticulous airport habits

A new survey from the travel site momondo reveals that Swedish Gen Z travelers are increasingly adopting meticulous travel habits previously associated with the ‘Airport Dad’ archetype.

According to the data, younger travelers demonstrate a high need for control and detail. Approximately 48 percent of Swedish Gen Z travelers double-check their gate location, and 26 percent check their mobile devices multiple times for travel updates, a significantly higher rate than the 15 percent reported among Gen X. Additionally, 24 percent of Gen Z travelers screenshot boarding passes or flight information for security, compared to 17 percent of Gen X.

Gen Z travelers also tend to arrive at the airport earlier, averaging 3.5 hours before departure. Lisbet Due Berg, press officer at momondo, noted that this generation uses their mobile phones as primary travel tools to manage details, effectively taking on a digital version of the traditional travel leader role.
