Gendarmería Regional Director inspects O’Higgins penal units

Colonel Maryorieht Castilla, the new Regional Director of Gendarmería de Chile in O’Higgins, has completed a tour of all penal units within the region two weeks after assuming her position.

The inspections included meetings with wardens and local teams to identify regional needs, strengths, and critical issues. Castilla visited various facilities, including workshops, school installations, and areas for inmates, to assess the reality of prison work on the ground.

Castilla stated that the diagnostic tour will help establish a concrete work plan for her management, with a primary focus on strengthening security protocols while also addressing social reintegration processes.
