Gender gap persists in generative AI usage among executives

A gender gap persists in the use of generative artificial intelligence, with male usage rates at 47.8 percent compared to 39.3 percent for women. While the overall use of AI is increasing, this disparity has remained relatively stable since early 2025.

Research indicates that the lower intensity of use among female executives is not due to technological skepticism. Instead, senior female managers tend to use AI tools more purposefully and with greater discipline. Rather than using the technology for exploratory testing, they often begin by precisely defining business problems and measurable goals.

Experienced leaders generally view AI as a tool to sharpen human thinking rather than a replacement for human judgment, noting that algorithms lack the ability to grasp a company’s historical development or political realities.
