Gene & Georgetti Marks 85 Years with Limited‑Time 1940s Menu in Chicago

Chicago steakhouse Gene & Georgetti is celebrating its 85th anniversary by launching a limited‑time menu that revives dishes first served in 1941, the era when the restaurant was a favorite haunt of Frank Sinatra. The special menu, available throughout August, features items such as caramelized thick‑cut bacon with blue cheese, walnut‑cranberry salad with the house apple vinaigrette, fried ravioli in marinara, pepper steak with sweet peppers and mushrooms, and a spicy lobster Fra Diavolo.

Owner and third‑generation restaurateur Michelle Durpetti said the anniversary honors the generations that built the family‑run institution, noting the legacy of founder Gene Michelotti and her father Tony Durpetti. The restaurant hopes the throwback offerings let diners experience the classic Italian‑American cuisine that attracted legends like Sinatra, Bob Hope and Lucille Ball.
