Gene Simmons explains why KISS ended touring
Gene Simmons, the 77-year-old bassist and singer for KISS, has revealed that the band ended their touring career out of respect for their fans. Speaking in an interview with NewsNation, Simmons stated it was essential to step off the stage gracefully and proudly while the band remained unique.
Simmons cited the extreme physical demands of their performances as a primary factor. He described the exhaustion of performing for two hours while wearing heavy armor weighing between 50 and 70 pounds, wearing high platform boots, spitting fire, and flying through the air. He noted that at his age, he wanted to ensure the band provided the high-level spectacle and bombast fans expected without compromising the quality of the show.
While the band has concluded its live touring, a digital comeback is planned. An avatar-based KISS show is slated to launch in Las Vegas in 2028, which the band describes as a new era.
