Genelle Guzman-McMillan recounts 9/11 survival story

Genelle Guzman-McMillan, a survivor of the September 11 attacks, recently shared her account of being trapped beneath the rubble of the World Trade Center's North Tower for approximately 27 hours.

During a Ground Zero memorial event, Guzman-McMillan described a miraculous encounter while trapped in the darkness. She recalled a person named Paul who held her hand and called her by name, an experience she believes helped her remain conscious and fight for survival. She noted, “I don't know if it's a firefighter or if it's an angel person, but I've been looking for that person, Paul, who was holding my hand for the past 24 years.”

At the time of the attacks, Guzman-McMillan was an office assistant for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The ordeal resulted in severe leg injuries that required four operations and a lengthy recovery process to walk again. She has since become a volunteer for the 9/11 Tribute Center and the American Red Cross.
