Genentech to invest $750 million in Oregon manufacturing facility

Genentech, a subsidiary of Roche, has announced a $750 million investment to expand its manufacturing capabilities in Hillsboro, Oregon. The project involves constructing a new fill-finish facility at its existing campus to produce drug-delivery devices, including pre-filled syringes and autoinjectors. This expansion is intended to support a diverse product pipeline covering oncology, immunology, and neurology.

Commercial operations at the Oregon site are expected to begin in 2031. The project is anticipated to create approximately 250 manufacturing jobs, with an additional 200 jobs expected during the construction phase. The facility is designed with flexible production capabilities to accommodate varying batch sizes and evolving pipeline needs.

This investment follows significant expansion efforts in Holly Springs, North Carolina, where Genentech is developing a facility for metabolic disease treatments, including obesity medications. Additionally, Genentech has entered into an exclusive licensing deal with Hanmi Pharma for territories outside South Korea.
