General Atlantic revives IPO plans with major banks

General Atlantic is reviving plans for an initial public offering (IPO) as US market conditions for new listings improve. The New York-based investment firm, which manages approximately $130 billion in assets, is reportedly working with JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, and Goldman Sachs on the potential offering.

The firm previously explored a stock market listing in 2022 and filed confidentially for a US listing in late 2023, but those plans were postponed due to market volatility. The renewed interest follows an expansion of the firm’s capabilities beyond traditional growth equity, including acquisitions like credit manager Iron Park and a minority investment in Clipway.

Founded in 1980, General Atlantic specializes in providing capital and strategic support to high-growth companies. Its extensive investment history includes major names such as Airbnb, Uber, Alibaba, and Facebook.
