General Carlos Germán Oviedo Lamprea assumes command of Colombia's Police Region No. 4

Brigadier General Carlos Germán Oviedo Lamprea has officially assumed command of Police Region No. 4 in southwestern Colombia. The appointment, overseen by Major General Jesús Alejandro Barrera Peña, places Oviedo Lamprea in charge of operations across the departments of Valle del Cauca, Cauca, and Nariño.

Oviedo Lamprea brings over 32 years of experience to the role, having previously led the Metropolitan Police of Santiago de Cali and the Directorate of Carabineros and Environmental Protection. His new strategic plan focuses on dismantling organized armed groups and targeting criminal activities including drug trafficking, extortion, and kidnapping.

The security initiative will utilize advanced intelligence and coordinated efforts between police units, the Military Forces, and the Attorney General's Office. The strategy aims to combine rural operations with urban crime prevention and community engagement to rebuild public trust.
