General Dynamics awarded $30M Space Force contract for MUOS modernization
The U.S. Space Force has awarded General Dynamics Mission Systems a $30 million sole-source contract to modernize the ground system for the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS). The project, focused on Ground Resiliency, aims to upgrade existing ground infrastructure to ensure reliable communications and alternate connectivity paths.
The modernization effort includes hardware and software upgrades to the Network Management System to improve overall performance. This work is expected to be completed within two years. This initiative is part of a broader effort to extend the service life of the MUOS waveform through fiscal year 2035 and its supporting ground system through fiscal year 2040.
