General Dynamics to deliver PERCH 2.0 launchers for M1A2 Abrams tanks

General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) is developing the PERCH 2.0 (Precision Effects & Reconnaissance, Canister-Housed) system to enable M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks to launch Switchblade loitering munitions. This canister-based system is designed to allow armored vehicle crews to conduct aerial reconnaissance and precision strikes while remaining protected inside their vehicles, extending their engagement capabilities beyond the direct line of sight.

The U.S. Army has acquired three PERCH 2.0 prototypes through its Abrams Systems Technical Support contract. GDLS plans to deliver four prototypes to the 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, at Fort Hood by the end of October 2026 for integration and testing. These trials will evaluate the system's ability to enhance situational awareness, precision engagement, and battlefield survivability for armored units.
