General Güemes builds logistics hub to serve Salta lithium mining

The municipality of General Güemes is advancing the creation of an industrial park and logistics node along National Route 34 and the bi‑oceanic corridor. The project is intended to become the primary service centre for lithium mining activities in the Puna region of Salta, attracting investment, generating qualified jobs and integrating local small‑and‑medium enterprises into the construction and supply phases of mining projects.

International firms such as POSCO and Ganfeng already operate within the complex. Mayor Carlos Rosso warned that a large share of contracts still goes to companies outside the department and called for stricter enforcement of the “buy Salteño” policy and a supplier‑ring scheme that favours firms based in the jurisdiction.
