General Mahad Abdirahman Aden accuses Türkiye of involvement in Doolow attack

General Mahad Abdirahman Aden, a former head of Somalia’s Custodial Corps known as Taliye Shub, has accused Türkiye of involvement in an attempted assassination following a missile strike on his residence in Doolow.

General Aden claims he observed an F-16 fighter aircraft overhead shortly before the explosion occurred at midnight. He reported that the strike caused heavy damage to his home, resulting in minor injuries to himself, the death of one woman, and several other wounded individuals. Aden alleged that his location may have been compromised and implicated various senior Somali political and security officials in his claims, though no publicly verifiable evidence has been provided to confirm these accusations.

The Somali federal government has disputed the claim that an airstrike was responsible, stating that preliminary findings suggest the blast may have been caused by explosives inside the residence. General Aden has rejected this explanation, asserting that he saw the aircraft and denying that explosives were being assembled at the site. The incident has added significant tension to the country's political landscape, particularly as Aden has been associated with political opponents of the federal government.
