General Mahad wounded in Doolow attack amid political tensions

Former Somali Custodial Corps Commander General Mahad Abdirahman Adan and his wife were injured in an overnight attack on their residence in Doolow, Gedo region. Following the incident, both victims were evacuated to Nairobi for medical treatment.

The attack has triggered intense political friction. Opposition forces and Jubaland officials have accused the Federal Government of targeting the General, with unverified allegations suggesting the involvement of Turkish military aircraft or Turkish-supported drone capabilities. The Somali Future Council has also expressed concern regarding potential foreign interference in internal political disputes.

The Federal Government has categorically denied responsibility, stating that preliminary security reports suggest the explosions were caused by explosive materials being prepared inside the house. In response to the conflicting accounts, the government has announced plans to establish a fact-finding committee to investigate the incident.
