General Motors begins Chevrolet Captiva PHEV production in Brazil
General Motors has officially commenced full-scale production of the Chevrolet Captiva PHEV in Brazil. This marks the brand’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) produced in the country. The SUV is being assembled at the Ceará Automotive Plant (PACE) in Horizonte, operated in partnership with Comexport.
The Captiva PHEV is the third model assembled at the PACE facility in less than a year, following the Chevrolet Spark EUV and the Captiva EV. The production of the 2027 model year Captiva PHEV follows a rapid transition after GM confirmed local assembly plans just two months ago. The vehicle utilizes an ecological automotive system produced in China, combining an electric motor with a high-efficiency battery and a gasoline engine.
According to the manufacturer, the vehicle offers a combined range exceeding 1,000 kilometers. While specific details regarding price, power, and battery capacity have not yet been released, Chevrolet confirmed that the models are scheduled to arrive at dealerships in early November. This move represents Chevrolet’s strategic entry into the Brazilian plug-in hybrid market, a segment that has seen rapid growth and increasing competition from Chinese manufacturers.
