General Motors to assemble imported vehicles in Coahuila

General Motors has announced plans to begin assembling vehicles at its industrial complex in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, which are currently imported from Asia. The project aims to serve the Mexican market by transitioning the production of models such as the Chevrolet Groove and Chevrolet Aveo to local facilities.

The initiative is part of a $1 billion investment by General Motors to strengthen its operations in Mexico during 2026 and 2027. The company targets an annual production capacity of approximately 80,000 units by 2030.

Industry experts note that this shift requires significant modifications to production lines and presents opportunities for the national supplier chain to integrate more deeply with local manufacturing processes.
