General Motors to manufacture 2027 Chevrolet Aveo in Mexico

General Motors has announced plans to manufacture the 2027 Chevrolet Aveo in Mexico at its Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila plant. This move shifts production away from China, as current models up to 2026 are fully imported from China. The transition is part of a multi-billion dollar investment by General Motors to strengthen its Mexican operations, with a goal of reaching an annual production of approximately 80,000 vehicles by 2030. While the manufacturing location is changing, the 2027 model is expected to retain much of its current configuration rather than introducing a new generation.

In the current Mexican market, pricing dynamics for the Chevrolet Aveo have become notable. Under specific financing or leasing schemes, the Aveo LS Manual can be acquired for 234,800 pesos, which is lower than the price of some used units of the same generation that retail between 250,000 and 260,000 pesos. However, the standard list price for the LS Manual is 332,800 pesos. The lower price is subject to commercial conditions and financing terms, such as a 19.2% average CAT, though Chevrolet also offers 48-month interest-free schemes under certain conditions.
