General Motors to transfer Nasdaq listing from NYSE
General Motors has confirmed it will transfer its listing from the New York Stock Exchange to the Nasdaq Global Select Market. The move, authorized by the company's board, marks the end of a 115-year relationship with the NYSE, which dates back to 1911.
GM shares are scheduled to trade on the NYSE through the close of business on November 16, 2026, before officially opening on Nasdaq the following day, November 17. The company will retain its existing three-letter ticker symbol, ‘GM’. No action is required from current shareholders to facilitate the transition.
Analysts suggest the move may position the company for potential inclusion in the Nasdaq-100 index. The transition also aligns with GM's strategic efforts to rebrand itself as a technology and autonomous-driving company rather than a traditional legacy manufacturer.
