General People's Congress marks 44th anniversary with calls for unity

On the 44th anniversary of the founding of the General People's Congress (GPC), party leaders have issued calls for national unity and the restoration of the Yemeni state.

Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh, Deputy Chairman of the GPC, addressed party members and supporters, emphasizing that the organization was founded in August 1982 as a centrist political framework intended to transcend narrow divisions. He highlighted the party's resilience despite attempts at fragmentation and honored the memory of founder Ali Abdullah Saleh. Saleh called for the restoration of the state and the unification of national ranks to face current historical dangers.

Ghalib Mansour, a member of the GPC's Permanent Committee, also marked the anniversary by criticizing the Houthi militia's coup and its impact on Yemen's institutions and economy. Mansour warned against internal party divisions and personal conflicts, urging the GPC to act as a unified republican force to defend the republic, unity, and the rule of law against foreign-backed projects.
