Regional healthcare updates: new services and infrastructure developments

Several regional health developments are underway across Latin America. In General Pico, Argentina, the Hospital Comunitario del Barrio Federal is launching 24-hour medical emergency services and low-complexity inpatient care. This expansion provides the city with two simultaneous public emergency services, aimed at decentralizing healthcare in the northern Pampean region.

In Chubut, Argentina, the Regional Hospital of Comodoro Rivadavia completed a rapid testing campaign for HIV and syphilis, conducting 153 tests to promote early diagnosis. Meanwhile, in Tucumán, Argentina, a mobile hospital is providing free medical services and preventive care in the Los Chañaritos neighborhood.

In Colombia, the Valle del Cauca department is assessing 47 hospitals following a magnitude 7.4 earthquake that damaged approximately 200 health institutions. Governor Dilian Francisca Toro is coordinating with the Ministry of Health and the Pan American Health Organization to fund reconstruction, estimated at 1.7 trillion pesos.

In Mexico City, the IMSS has introduced stereotactic mammography at the Family Medicine Unit No. 21. This technology allows patients to undergo both imaging and biopsies in a single visit, facilitating earlier cancer detection and reducing diagnostic wait times.
