General Prim's historical saber remains in Reus

The historical saber of General Prim, which was gifted to the Reus City Council in 1860, remains a significant artifact reflecting the complex colonial history of Spain in North Africa.

During a triumphal reception in his hometown of Reus, General Prim presented the weapon as an "imperishable monument." His speeches at the time included declarations of respect for the city and references to his combat experiences in Africa, where he noted the sword was "still reddened with Moorish blood."
