General Zod killed by Ursa in Superman #41

In the climax of Superman #41, written by Joshua Williamson and illustrated by Eddy Barrows, the long-standing Superman antagonist General Zod was killed during the Kingdom of Zod crossover event.

The storyline follows Zod, who had been operating under the alias Bruno as a military advisor to the president of El Caldero, an island nation that became a global power after a Kryptonite meteorite impact. Zod’s objectives included launching a coup in El Caldero and attacking Earth using modified Kryptonite.

Beyond conquest, Zod attempted to use stolen Kryptonian technology to resurrect his wife, Ursa. While the resurrection was successful, Ursa killed Zod immediately, citing his perceived weakness. The story concluded with Ursa escaping into the time-stream using a stolen time machine in an attempt to prevent the destruction of Krypton.
