Generali and World Bank partner on emerging market solutions

Generali and the World Bank Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to mobilize private capital and enhance resilience in emerging markets. The agreement was signed during the World Bank and IMF Annual Meetings in Bangkok.

The partnership aims to develop investment and insurance solutions specifically for emerging and frontier markets. On the investment side, the collaboration seeks to direct institutional capital toward these regions while meeting Generali’s investment requirements.

Regarding insurance, the initiative will initially focus on Asian markets, prioritizing three key areas: coverage for aging populations in alignment with the World Bank’s Silver Economy Program, climate risk and crop damage protection for the agricultural sector, and strengthened protection against natural disasters. The two organizations also plan to collaborate on innovative risk-sharing mechanisms for climate and catastrophic risks to create scalable, diversified structures.
