Generali Deutschland to cut 800 jobs and close three sites

Assicurazioni Generali has announced a restructuring plan for its German subsidiary, involving the elimination of approximately 800 jobs—about 9% of its local workforce. The company plans to close its offices in Aachen, Nuremberg, and Stuttgart by the end of 2030, relocating teams to regional hubs in Cologne, Munich, and Karlsruhe.

The insurer aims to consolidate operations into five main regional centers located in Munich, Cologne, Karlsruhe, Hamburg, and Saarbrücken, while maintaining sites in Frankfurt, Leipzig, and Berlin. To manage the workforce reduction, the company intends to utilize voluntary retirement, natural staff turnover, and age-related departures.

Despite the job cuts, Generali reported an operational result exceeding €1 billion in 2025. The group plans to invest a nine-figure sum into IT modernization, digitization, and artificial intelligence to increase productivity and automate administrative tasks. This strategy is part of a broader effort to simplify the operating model and reduce the cost-income ratio from 57% in 2024 to 52% by 2027.
