Generali posts 17.9% profit rise in first half of 2026

Assicurazioni Generali reported a net profit of €2.538 billion for the first half of 2026, a 17.9% increase over the same period a year earlier. Adjusted net profit reached €2.543 billion, up 13.7% YoY. The consolidated operating result grew to €4.505 billion, an 11.2% rise, while gross written premiums totaled €53.4 billion, 5.8% higher than in H1 2025. Life‑insurance premiums amounted to €33.449 billion (+5.5%) and non‑life premiums to €19.971 billion (+6.3%). Net inflows in the life segment were €8.3 billion and new‑business value rose 21.1% to €1.9 billion. The combined ratio slipped to 91.5%, a 0.5‑percentage‑point increase, reflecting the impact of natural catastrophes. Asset & Wealth Management posted an operating gain of €735 million, up 31.3%, and total assets under management grew 4.9% to €944 billion. The solvency ratio stood at 216%, down from 219%. Generali also announced a share‑buyback programme of up to €500 million, to be executed in one or more tranches.
