Generation Z faces financial setbacks and decision fatigue, study shows
A study in the United States found that 80% of Generation Z and 75% of Millennials feel financially failed or behind. Mariano Sardán, CEO of the wealth‑management firm FDI, said the frustration is pushing many young people toward risky bets such as cryptocurrencies, meme stocks and sports wagering, even as he warned that “the real solution is still to save consistently, diversify and stay invested for the long term.”
Research by the online tutoring platform Preply reported that 84% of people experience decision‑fatigue, with Generation Z reporting mental exhaustion about 11 times per month—38% more often than baby‑boomers. The study noted that 39% of respondents feel stress from the sheer number of daily choices, leading 36% to opt for the easiest option and 26% to postpone or avoid decisions altogether. Common stressors include mundane tasks such as cleaning and the difficulty of finding motivation for personal goals.
