Generation Z favors cautious career paths amid economic uncertainty

Recent studies challenge common stereotypes of Generation Z as unreliable. In the workplace, a Deloitte survey found that 44 % of respondents prefer a slow, secure career trajectory rather than rapid promotion, and only 6 % rank leadership positions as their top goal. While 76 % would eventually assume managerial responsibility, they prioritize work‑life balance and stress avoidance. The same cohort is actively upskilling, with three‑quarters already using AI tools at work and investing in communication and digital competencies.

Parallel research on consumer behavior shows that generational labels often obscure real buying drivers. In kitchen design, older customers tend to favor larger, comfort‑focused spaces, whereas younger buyers prioritize compact, multifunctional layouts suited to urban living. However, the study notes that housing size is more closely linked to location, income and household composition than to age, suggesting that individual needs trump generic generational assumptions.
